The members of Arcade Fire have signed 250 copies of the deluxe edition of the recently released Miroir Noir DVD and combined them with a limited edition hand silk-screened poster signed and numbered by the artist of the poster Wes Winship for a special package to benefit Partners In Health. The strictly limited deluxe signed edition with poster will be available exclusively at Arcadefire.com for $250 (plus shipping and handling), with all proceeds going to Partners In Health.
Arcade Fire donated a share of ticket sales from every headlining show on the 2007 Neon Bible tour to Partners In Health's program in Haiti, which focuses on delivering high quality healthcare to the poor. Members of the band have visited Haiti to witness firsthand the results of these donations, which also include sending thousands of children to school with hot meals, providing housing for the poorest patients, and increasing the agricultural capacity of those families.

Vincent Morisset's Arcade Fire film, Miroir Noir, will be screened at the National Theatre in Montreal on Thursday April 2nd. Tickets are $12.50, available from the Arcade Fire online store or [presumably?] from the venue.

ARCADE FIRE RELEASE FILM MIROIR NOIR

DVD Formats Available for 2009 Delivery
Arcade Fire will release the documentary film Miroir Noir online this Monday, December 15th.
The film follows Arcade Fire through the making and touring of their 2007 album Neon Bible, documenting the band at their Montreal studio, the making of promotional films and videos, along with live footage and a few short films made on the road.
Miroir Noir is directed by Arcade Fire friend and collaborator Vincent Morisset. Vincent was responsible for the interactive video for the song "Neon Bible" and for the Arcade Fire web design. The film was shot by Vincent Moon.
The digital download and standard edition DVD feature the 70 minute film Miroir Noir. The deluxe edition DVD contains bonus material including Arcade Fire's live performances on Jonathon Ross, Saturday Night Live and at Maida Vale.
The 70 minute film will be available globally at www.Miroir-Noir.com on December 15th as a one-off download in two sizes to suit preferred players. The physical standard and deluxe DVDs are planned for 2009 delivery (with digital versions delivered instantly). |

Arcade Fire are contributing the previously unreleased/new(?) track "Lenin" to Dark Was The Night, a 4AD charity compilation for the Red Hot Organisation, an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS.
We don't yet know for sure if "Lenin" is the same song as the fabled "When Lenin Was Little", or when the recording might date from.
The album is due on February 16th worldwide, and February 17th in North America.
The double cd/triple vinyl/download was produced by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National (and Clogs, etc) fame and it features a rather stunning tracklisting (details after the break). |
