Zane Low  on BBC 's Radio 1 played Intervention, from the upcoming new album tonight. The new the record is entitled Neon Bible, which, while it is the name of John Kennedy Toole's first novel, it was not inspired by the book according to the band.

This rather odd website was also setup as well, and if you call the toll-free number (1-866-NEON-BIBLE) and hit the option '7777' you can listen to  'Intervention'. There are also other various weird options, and you can subscribe to a mailing list as well. But to listen to a better sounding radio play of the song, go here and listen to Thursday's show at around the 18 minute mark.

Intervention is not a totally new song however, the band had been playing it live in 2004, and they played an incredible acoustic version of it on KCRW's 'Morning Becomes Eclectic' as well. The lyrics have changed quite a bit from the earlier versions too. The song opens with the church pipe organ that has been talked about recently. Along with the glockenspiel, once the drums and rest of the band kicks in, the song is very reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen. I personally absolutely LOVE what they did with the studio version of what has long been one of my favorite songs of theirs. There is no confirmation as of yet that this is the first single, Zane merely stated that it was a "first taste" of the new record.
